Brief Introduction

Luping obtained her bachelor (2010) and master degree (2013) from Lanzhou University in China. Then she headed for Germany to pursue Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry (2013–2017) under the supervision by Prof. Benjamin List at Max Planck Institute for Coal Research, where she has established high enantioselectivities and reactivities in the challenging asymmetric transformations between inexpensive unactivated carbonyls and simple alkenes and achieved valuable scented compounds. In 2018, Luping moved into the field of chemical biology as a postdoc researcher with Prof. Neal Devaraj at University of California, San Diego, where she developed precision tetrazine ligations and de novo synthesis of natural lipid under aqueous conditions. She joined Peking Union Medical College as Assistant Professor at the beginning of 2022.

Our research interest has been focused on the interdisciplinary fields between fundamental organic chemistry and modern biotechnology: 1) Precision chemical tools: develop bioorthogonal chemical methods with high spatiotemporal control and aim for precision diagnostic and therapy. 2) Bioorthogonal catalysis: mimicking the living organisms, discover robust biocompatible catalytic system for targeting drug delivery. We have published high-impact journals such as  Nat. Chem. ,  J. Am. Chem. Soc. ,  Angew. Chem.,  which were highlighted by CE&N and other international academic media.
