Department of Drug Metabolism

 

The Department of Drug Metabolism is specialized in the preclinical pharmacokinetic evaluation of new drugs and related basic research. The research fields involve in the early ADME evaluation, preclinical pharmacokinetic/toxicokinetic study of new drugs, regulation and molecular mechanisms of drug metabolizing enzymes and transporters. There are 22 staff members and postgraduates, including 2 full professors, 3 associate professors, 1 Ph.D. supervisor and 2 M.Sc. supervisors.
In recent years, the department has undertaken the National High-tech R&D Program of China (863 program), National Program on Key Basic Research Project (973 Program), National Major Scientific and Technological Special Project for “Significant New Drugs Development” during the 11th and 12th Five-year Plans, National Natural Science Foundation of China, Pharmacokinetic platform of Beijing, as well as national or provincial and ministerial important projects related to the innovative drug. More than 20 graduates have obtained the PhD and Master’s degrees in the department. Approximate 100 papers have been published. Over the years, early ADME properties evaluate platform based on human recombination metabolizing enzymes and transporters, chemical-PK-PD fingerprint analysis for the complicated and trace components of traditional Chinese Medicines, the analysis of chiral drug and metabolism, preclinical PK-PD platform have been well established. Several preclinical pharmacokinetics of innovative drugs, which were the class I new drugs of China with patents, have been accomplished and further investigated for their molecular mechanisms of drug absorption, transportation and metabolizing enzyme regulation.
The Department of Drug Metabolism have collaborate with both domestic & foreign famous pharmaceutical companies and scientific research institutions. It focuses on the establishment and application of advanced technology systems and emphasizes the related basic research, playing an important role in the promotion of the new drug development and the related basic research.
